In a surprising turn of events, two major icons from the Bloodline, The Rock and Roman Reigns, joined forces at the kickoff, which didn’t quite receive the expected cheers and even saw some boos.
The WWE Universe, not entirely sold on The Rock as the be-all and end-all, threw their full support behind Cody, who won the Royal Rumble.
As a result, tensions rose when The Rock delivered a seemingly light slap to Cody, almost inciting a brawl.
Later on, HHH announced that the main event of WrestleMania would be Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes.
While this development may seem sudden, it’s likely that the management foresaw such a scenario.
They probably anticipated that the WWE Universe wouldn’t readily accept The Rock’s challenge, and Cody, currently the most supported wrestler after winning the Royal Rumble two years in a row, would garner full support.
