今回の依頼者は、一人で二つの依頼をし、ゴルゴ１３は、一つ目の依頼には難なく成功。
しかし、二つ目の依頼であるドナウ川を下り、いかに狙撃地点まで向かうかが今回のメインストーリー。
ゴルゴが二つ目の依頼を完遂させるためにウクライナからドイツへ向かうまでの経路を、スイスのジャヌー警部が超絶推理で行く手を阻む。
ゴルゴ１３の強靭な意志と知能が勝つか、ジャヌー警部の名推理が上回るかが作品の最大の見せ場です。
ジャヌー警部のゴルゴを摑まえる、任務を阻止してやる！という執念がスゴイ。
実際、ジャヌー警部は、ゴルゴ１３を捕縛寸前まで追い詰め、最後まで追い詰める。
ドイツのワールドカップの時期に作られた作品ですが、そのワールドカップも重要な舞台となっており読み応えがあります。
しかし、ゴルゴ１３の持ち味なんですが、ネームが多いのでページが進みません（笑）

今回の依頼内容は、国家間の対立でも、戦争の片側に付くのでもありません。
あるビジネスのトップが、ライバル社のトップの狙撃を依頼する、ビジネス紛争。
依頼者とフロアは違えど、同じビルにターゲットがいるために、自分が疑われないようにと、ゴルゴ１３に” エレガントな狙撃 ” を依頼するのだが狙撃にエレガントって！
非常に厳重な警備の中、いかにゴルゴ１３が誰も疑われずにスナイプするかが見せ所です。
しかし、思わぬところから綻びが出てしまう。
しかし、その綻びを拡げないように、しっかり伏線を回収し、相手の沈黙には、行動で返します。
自身のルールはどんな困難であろうと、必ず守り通す。
ゴルゴ１３の “プロフェッショナル 狙撃の流儀 “を見ることが出来るエピソードです。

Danube Rhine Maze
Volume 168 consists of two major long stories, like a double feature in movies.
This time, the client made two requests, and Golgo 13 successfully completes the first one without difficulty.
However, the main story this time is about how Golgo 13 descends the Danube River to reach the sniper point for the second request.
Golgo’s route from Ukraine to Germany to fulfill the second request is obstructed by Inspector Janu of Switzerland with his extraordinary deduction skills.
Whether Golgo 13’s strong will and intelligence will prevail or Inspector Janu’s brilliant reasoning will surpass him is the highlight of the story.
Inspector Janu’s determination to capture Golgo and thwart his mission is impressive indeed.
In fact, Inspector Janu almost captures Golgo 13, pushing him to the brink, and relentlessly pursuing him to the end.
Although this story was created during the time of the World Cup in Germany, the World Cup also serves as an important stage, adding depth to the narrative.
However, Golgo 13’s trademark abundance of detail makes the pages progress slowly (laughs).

The request this time is not about taking sides in international conflicts or wars.
It’s a business dispute where the head of one company requests Golgo 13 to snipe the head of a rival company.
Despite being on different floors, since both targets are in the same building, the request is for Golgo 13 to perform an “elegant snipe” without raising suspicion.
Sniping elegantly in the midst of extremely tight security is the highlight of this mission.
However, unexpected vulnerabilities emerge.
But Golgo 13 makes sure not to widen those vulnerabilities, instead meticulously tying up loose ends and responding to silence with action.
He always adheres to his own rules, no matter how challenging the situation.
This episode showcases Golgo 13’s “Professional Sniper Style” at its finest.
